If you want to know everything about the computers on your network, running around from one machine to another is not efficient. With Total Network Inventory, system administrators and other IT specialists can audit one or more computers, over a network. After a quick scan, the software will display everything there is to know about a computer, from its operating system to installed applications or hardware.

The program's trial version has a few limitations, but you can still use it to manage up to 50 computers, for 60 days. You don't have to make any advanced configurations, during the installation procedure. Furthermore, there is no need to install the software or a module on remote computers.

You can access different tabs, on the program's interface, to view a computer's entire inventory, generate and print reports, look up installed applications and more. The Scanner tab is where you can discover and scan computers, on your local network. You can either type a machine's IP address and click a button to add it to the list or select one of the options, located on the right side of the window, to add a predefined scan task. The software can scan the entire network, add your own computer or a specific network group.

After adding one or more computers to the list, you can select them and click a button, in the upper right corner of the interface, to scan them. The scanned computers are listed on the left side of the window. If you select a scanned computer, you can view its inventory on separate tabs. The first tab displays a broad range of information, including system details, information about the processor and memory, video and audio systems, installed programs and much more.

The software allows you to select, view and print different reports, on the second tab. You can generate reports about the operating system, installed software, hard drive, optical and removable drives and more. The Software Accounting tab is where you can find all the installed programs, on the selected computer. It is possible to generate reports for one or more programs, tag them, track their presence or absence or hide them. If you have doubts about a certain program, you may right click its entry and select an option to look it up on Google.

Pros

You can view and print any information about a computer, over a network. The software can scan your entire network or specific IP addresses. The information is well organized and very easy to find. Total Network Inventory can be installed fast and it is sufficient to set it up on your own computer, to audit remote machines.

Cons

When you export or print reports, the trial version will replace random lines with the phrase "trial version." With Total Network Inventory, you can acquire any information about a remote machine, without too much effort, from the comfort of your own computer.
